it’s walter van bierendonck – the legend designer showed great form for AW 2011 with a collection that “almost grew on the catwalk.” entitled “hand on heart” and full of wit and humour as always, sleek and monochrome suiting became a kaleidoscope of colour, print and symbols. multifunctional shapes, monster knits and mismatched patchwork pieces enhanced one of walter’s most wearable yet. skirts were plentiful over pants as has been seen much this season, but old school for walter – it must be said i like a man who can wear a skirt well. walter’s work has been a firm favourite of mine since 1997 when i purchased my first WALT ( wild and lethal trash) piece – many a body-popping move was to be had in that emergency orange skirt which was enticingly wrapped in thick black velcro straps…but enough of me and back to the boys. long live walter!
