tropical fetish & hothouse florals at peter pilotto. definitely one of my favourites from london so far – fierce and fun as london fashion should be. the boys use of digital print is both exciting and clever – a truly immersive collection. take me there.
trompe l’oeil & rustic refinement at michael van der ham. van der hams use of digital prints this season, to create the illusion of layering is a smart move forward on the body and for his growing business.
house of fun & kinky collage at louise gray. the creativity here feels like very early westwood to me. look beyond the whole look to find key pieces that you will cherish and wear forever. this is feel good, no it’s feel great fashion.
metallic urge and future florals & christopher kane. this collection showcases kane’s utterly original talent and vision for strong women. multifaceted and beautifully conceived. love the fresh perspective with age-old brocades especially.
africa mashup & controlled craft at burberry. not a brand i usually get excited about but christopher bailey’s use of dutch wax resist and heavy adornment had me dreaming of africa. also his idea behind the collection – “celebrate things that take time to do”, which in the world of fast and furious fashion is a treat – watch for more return to craft including crochet, beading, carving, weaving, braiding and printing. dutch wax resist trench anyone?
society swans & pop art craft at giles. clearly working his couturier contacts for this collection – the super sharp and sophisticated laser cut leather pieces in silver and digital swan print kaftan as my favourites. from t-shirt dressing to the red carpet – this multifaceted collection has it all. beautiful to watch but savage as hell…did someone say fashion?
